The "6 Day" Star Blanket

Completed Betty Mcknit's 6 Day Star Blanket :) It definitely did not take me 6 days lol. More like 1.5 months and 8 rolls of yarns later. 

 It was a fun pattern though and after like the first repeat rounds it got easier and more enjoyable. Really liked how the yarn is gradient and changed colors on its own. It all worked out thankfully and overall looks good. Happy with the end result! Would definitely recommend this pattern and the YouTube tutorial on it was very thorough. 

I crocheted this for my Mama's birthday in January and she loved it. I unfortunately did not get to see her live reaction and she did not realize it was a star pattern until I sent her a photo. Regardless, she loves it yay successful gift. I gave her another thing too along with the blanket for her birthday.

I started this at the beginning of December and then finished like mid-January. First completed crochet project for 2026!

 

Moon Moon likes to jump on my desk all the time. He slept on the blanket as I was working on it when I first started.

I was not very good at taking photos of my finished crochet pieces in 2025. Sometimes I completely forget to take photos of the finished item oops. Will be better about it this year.

Sleeping pad/blanket for Moon Moon. I started crocheting it at the end of 2024 and completed it at the start of 2025.

Beanie for my Mama as part of her birthday gift

Basket-weave bucket hat. I made it too slightly too big because I had to guess on a certain part since the video tutorial was not clear at all. It is still wearable but loose.

 

 Little throw blanket for Mai Linh for her 1st Birthday

 

 Patchwork cardigan. I messed up on one of the sleeves, but it turned out better than I expected. Sewing all the pieces together took so so long. 

Basket-weave bucket hat for my aunt's birthday. I was able to correct my mistake from the previous one and this one is more fitted.

  

 Beanie for Gabe. This was a fun pattern to do.

 

         Bag/car valley of the lily. I made 2 for Rose, 1 for Caroline and 1 for Kim for their birthdays.

Labubu hat behind my Hojicha latte. I made one for Kim for her birthday and another one for my Labubu since it was so cute. Super quick and easy to do.

 

 V-Stitch mesh cardigan. Added a few extra rows length wise to make it not as cropped.

 

 Scarf that I made for Daniel's birthday. Loved how each side shows a different pattern.

Don't have a photo, but I crocheted this black headband/ear warmer but it ended up being not wide enough oops. It was a quick project and I underestimated the width.

 

All the things I Crocheted in 2024

 

First completed crochet project, a little sleeping pad/blanket for Mello. He loved sleeping on it, my precious baby. I miss him so much.

 

Baby booties. Crocheted a total of 3 pairs - for Kai, Junie and Mai Linh. It was fun and learned new stitches and how tension can change the size of it.

 

Knit-like beanie for Gabe. He wanted it more slouchy. Way easier project compared to the baby booties.

 

Baby Cardigan for Junie. My first crochet clothing piece. I was so proud once I completed it and added the buttons.

 

Brown tote bag for Mama. Loved this yarn, it was easy to work with.

 

 

Blue octopus plushie for Gabe. Fun and quick project in Seattle with WPY.

 

Short/Sleeveless Top. It turned out more cropped than expected, but I think once I block/steam it it should be okay. Haven't worn it except for when I took this photo.

Navy Blue Long Sleeve Cardigan for Kai. It was fun making this cardigan and loved how it turned out.

Only took photos of the first two I made. I made majority of coasters from the first photo's pattern.

It was fun making these and I ended up making a lot.

Crochet

2024, The year I learned how to crochet :) 

I have always wanted to learn how to crochet, but it has seemed so daunting and hard to me. Finally finished my failed knitted blanket so I thought I would give it a go. 

Got a ball of yarn from JoAnn and Melanie let me borrow her 4.5mm Clover crochet hook. Searched up a tutorial on single crochet and began. Starting it was hard because I was not used to holding a hook and also, in general the start of any crochet project is typically hard because there isn't much to grip onto. Eventually I got the hang of it by like the 3-4 rows. Then I started to learn and do double crochet on a few of the rows. Ended up making a narrow rectangle sleeping pad for Mello. I pretty much just stopped once my ball of yarn was gone. Somewhat successful first crochet project. 

Learning is honestly the hardest part and then after that, learning other stitches is pretty easy and straight froward. Compared to knitting, I always had trouble learning other stitches besides the very basic one. Personally, I definitely like crocheting more than knitting. I like being able to see the whole progress of my work without it all bunching up like with knitting and also able to identify my mistakes and easily fix it.

Crochet was also a source of comfort, peace and distraction for me with Mello's sudden passing...

I have been crocheting now for over a year and it's been fun. Just wished I didn't get hand pain so often, I am assuming it has to do with crocheting and also with work with the way I hold my mouse/type on the keyboard. I am definitely no expert at all and continue to learn every day. Hoping to maybe one day create my own pattern and creation.
