1 Year with Mello

July 7th, 2021. The day Mello we adopted Mello at the Cedar Hill Petco at around 4pm. 

Saw a Craigslist posting on Mello, "looking[ing] for a new loving home for him. his current home is not the best." I emailed the person and we coordinated to meet at Petco to meet Mello. His original name was Benji, but we decided to rename him keke. Anyways, we met up with Mello's previous caretaker there and she brought him out of the car wrapped up in a towel. I fell in love with him at first sight even though I was a bit nervous. Got to hold him and asked a few questions about his behaviors/personality. Then we decided to take him and he was ours :)

We brought him inside my car while Gabe went inside Petco to get essentials such as food, litter box, litter, etc. So it was just Mello and I in the car. He was pretty shy and curious. Probably confused too since we were complete strangers. Afterwards we drove home and carried him to the office room, specifically the office bathroom first so that he knew where his litter box was. He immediately went behind the toilet to hide. Eventually we moved him to the office room and he hid under the futon. He wasn't eating, drinking water or using the bathroom for like the first 5 hours and I got worried. As the night went on he slowly came out a little, but still seemed scared. When it was time to sleep we closed the office room door so that he doesn't wander and I could hear him meowing. My heart...I couldn't leave him alone so I slept in the office on the futon to keep him company. Yep, he stole my heart on day 1. 

My precious Mello-Bear. My little Pomelo. I love him so much and I can't imagine life without him. He's my Baby Boy and I take care of him. Life is so much better with him around. Seeing his adorable face always brings me joy, especially when I am sad. Even though he can be a butt and a little troublemaker sometimes I can never stay mad at him for long. I am such a cat mom. I kiss him on the cheeks everyday and love holding him like a baby. Although he doesn't really like to cuddle, I love to cuddle with him and he tolerates it most of the time. I clean his litter box twice a day because although I don't need to, I want to because who wants to use the toilet when it is dirty/not flushed. He is such a shy and curious boy, always gets scared so easily. My little shadow who follows me around, but also independent when he wants to be. He loves to nap and play with strings. Would rather sleep on the cat scratcher box instead of this nice comfy spacious bed. I want the best for my Baby and want him to live a good long life. 

Cheers to one year with Mello! Time surely does fly by, I can't believe it has already been a year. What an amazing year this has been with him and I look forward to many many many more years with this little guy. I love you so much Mello-Bear ♥
